So, sometimes, summer here is sort of . . . revoked. It was, for the most part, cloudy today, in the 60s with heavy fog, at least up here on the hill, in the morning. There's something very refreshing about the grey of Seattle. Just a quiet neutral tone against which to do everyday things. The beautiful summer days here are so dazzling, sunny and clear, without being too hot, and the mountains and the water are often so breathtaking, the scenery has a tendency to overshadow and outstage anything that isn't totally in tune with it. Going grocery shopping when the mountains are all purple and the sun is reflecting, golden off the snow capped peaks? No way, it just feels lame. Temperate and bland, the clouds like a blanket around the city, its a refreshing sort of drab, and when the sun comes back, it will only throw it into sharper relief. (Which is why the very start of summer is so amazing here. It breaks wide open just when the grey and the dark have gotten so monotonous and oppresive that you just want to scream every time you look out the window.)
